The Sustainable Urban Advisor acts as a Backstopper to support SECO’s efforts in promoting sustainable urban development, green growth, and climate resilience in partner countries and cities.
More specifically, ENCO, in a co-leadership with Urbaplan, supports SECO Programme Managers with
- Scoping and feasibility studies, support project design and review proposals of new Urban Development interventions (e.g., preparation of tender documents for the Swiss Vietnam Urban Development Programme).
- Ad-hoc ‘on demand’ strategic and technical advice on/in ongoing urban development interventions (e.g., Study Tour for a South African delegation of municipal finance experts, etc.)
- Internal reviews and external evaluations of SECO supported interventions (e.g., Evaluation of the Renewable Energy Skills Development (RESD) in Indonesia Project).
- Supporting the reassessment of SECO’s strategic positioning on key urban development challenges.
- Elaboration/review of written communication material in preparation of strategic public and internal events (e.g., Strategy paper on investment trends and partnership opportunities between Swiss and Polish cities).
The Sustainable Urban Advisors mobilises technical and strategic experts “on demand” with a focus on four key thematic areas: (1) Urban Governance and Finance; (2) Urban Mobility; (3) Urban Resilience; (4) and Urban Energy Management. So far, backstopping support has been provided in Vietnam, Indonesia, Ukraine, and Poland.
