The Ciudad Energética (CE) Colombia Project funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) supported three Colombian pilot cities (Monteria, Fusagasuga and Pasto) in planning and implementing sustainable energy policies, while building up a National Programme in support of energy-managing cities in Colombia.
The Ciudad Energética (CE) Colombia initiative supported three partner cities – Monteria, Fusagasuga and Pasto – in setting up sustainable energy action plans, in designing, implementing and monitoring the impacts of sustainable infrastructure projects, among which: a solar roof programme in Fusagasuga, a bike-sharing system in Pasto and the bioclimatic refurbishment of a public school in the Caribbean City of Monteria.
ENCO provided support to all three partner cities in adopting a Quality Management System based on the European Energy Award/ Energiestadt process. In an effort to ensure the continuity of the dynamics launched by the Project, ENCO also has been advising the Colombian government, namely the Ministry of Energy and Mines, in establishing a national programme aimed to support Colombian cities in taking climate action. The Ciudad Energética Colombia label reflects the specific context of Colombia. It shall be awarded to cities that excel for their outstanding energy management performance and climate engagement.
